Our friends at Understated Recordings have come together with up and coming producer LUNR and are set to release his latest EP. There are many reasons to be excited about this entire album. Coming off last years huge release with Eekkoo for Mau5trap, he is welcomed to the Understated family with open arms. 4 tracks make up the full EP one of which ‘Oblivion’ has been released on the legendary ‘Astralwerks Records’ White Label imprint. That in itself is exciting enough but we still have three more tracks to unpack here come this Friday. The crew here at LAMP is really stoked to have the chance to share one of them with you today. Let me just start of by saying ‘Path of Totality’ is a journey. I think the entirety of the EP should 100% be listened to from start to finish to get the full scope of the story coming together. That being said each of the tracks completely tells its own story letting them stand apart from each other. For our premier today we are going to focus on the second track on the EP ‘Shadows’ feat. Max Comeau.
I really feel a sense of being in outer space when I listen to ‘Shadows’. The opening sequence of synths and pads gives off this real sense of weightlessness and it is easy to get lost and float away as the groove gently eases its way in and blasts us off into space. We are quickly treated to Max Comeau’s heavenly vocals which are absolutely breathtaking. Accompanying is some next level synth work tying in so many different layers all working in perfect harmony. You can really tell that LUNR put a ton of work into designing this track and he paid attention to every detail. All in all given the heavy nature of the lyrics I really feel like this song is breath of fresh air that really lifted me up. You will have to wait until Friday for the full release but at least until then you can add ‘Shadows’ to you playlists and if you snag the pre-order here it will be waiting for you when it drops!
